Governor General visits SFU VentureLabs

Cricket protein bars and water harvested from the air are some of the innovations that were showcased during the Governor General’s visit to Simon Fraser University’s VentureLabs® on June 1.

His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston participated in a roundtable discussion with 25 early stage and experienced entrepreneurs and social innovators in technology, health, sports and food security.

The discussion, moderated by SFU President Andrew Petter, brought together the innovation ecosystem to exchange ideas on expanding innovation in Canada.

After the roundtable discussion, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston viewed demonstrations led by innovators of all ages, from an elementary school student whose ideas and courage could change the world to a world-leading academic in alternative energy conversion.
